Seeing as they get to wear the clothes before anyone else, let alone before the designer’s designs trickle down into the high street, it’s not rocket science that looking at the models’ style will give us some insightful style inspiration. Miss Abbey Lee Kershaw the Australian model competition winner is definitely one to watch. Don’t let me fool you, Abbey Lee hasn’t just won any old model search in Melbourne but graced Chanel’s catwalks and campaigns, fallen on Rodarte catwalk in NYC and fainted in a McQueen show in a corset. Oh yes, she hit the industry with a bang! Following being donned a Super Model there was a controversial photo shoot with Terry Richardson that’s nudity and provocative posing caused a storm. Her beau is part of a band called ‘Our Mountain’ that Kershaw occasionally waves a tambourine in or sings along with.
Having posed for Chanel campaigns in a more urban shoot than is Chanel custom, tuned her inner hippy for Flora by Gucci and walked for Victoria Secret to name but a few… Kershaw is now on your billboards and bus stops in the latest H&M campaign. Starring along side the likes of Georgie May Jagger, Karen Elsen and Jerry Hall, the Ozzie waif presents H&M’s latest holiday collection. Not to mention she modelled the infamous Versace collaboration too.

The picture I’ve painted of this rebellious and sought after Australian is right on point for analysing her eclectic ensembles. My favourite characteristic of her look is that they are utterly unpredictable. From demure hippy, to out right punk Kershaw never looks overtly put together. She’s not afraid of length and layers, and happily teams a sweet tea dress with grungie boots. Think free-spirited 90s rebel. To emulate some Kershaw-Cool in your look add some velvet which is perfect for this winter anyway, some thick boots, think Doc Martens and some length, be it a gothic pendants or a sheer maxi dress.
