And this months best dressed goes to...

Earlier this month Stella McCartney opened her New York flagship store and is captured here with Naomi Watts. Their muted ensembles are examples of winter chic at its best. Naomi’s laced dress has an opaque under layer that keeps it appropriate for the daytime and her two-toned oversized blazer gives the girly look an androgynous edge. I’m an avid fan of thick tights and Naomi proves that they can make not break an outfit. Stella’s totally black look is kept interesting with her exquisitely cut long sleeved top. Her slightly baggy trousers and open toe heels give a cool contradictory accent to her simple choices.

The next evening Naomi educated us in grown up sophistication while also being a great friend! Having been to Stella McCartney’s New York flagship store opening she wore the designer again to the National Board of Review Awards. This is from the pre-autumn/winter 2012-13 collection and is so season appropriate. The navy and gold colour combination are warming yet luxurious.

Can Valentino really do no wrong? This dress is an unexpected design from the fashion house and also a surprising choice from Jessica. The combination of different textures is powerful here. The elegant mesh top keeps the look feminine and classy with the plastic finish giving it a punky edge that creates a show stopping finish. The actress was right to keep the shoes black with these Sergio Rossi pumps. The clutch is also from Valentino and while forming a contrast to the dress the shape and trim of studs are in keeping with the tone of the overall look.

On Thursday Jessica Alba stepped out in LA in this 70s inspired outfit. The wedge shoes and over the shoulder bag both being in tan ties up the look neatly while the lined pattern of the blouse keeps it fresh. Flared jeans are a great contrast to the skinny legged addiction that plagues our streets. To pull of this look you don’t need children’s books however loose hair and big shades help.

We are constantly bombarded with images of the silver screen elite in to die for dresses however it is a pleasant surprise when some of the braver mix it up with an unpredictable ensemble. May I present to you the delectable Emma Stone in trousers at the People’s Choice Awards. The green jacket and tailored trousers was created by Gucci for their spring/summer 2012 collection. Emma won 2 awards this evening. So there are three things to acknowledge and celebrate here; she is our favourite movie actress, our favourite comedic movie actress and the diversity and innovation of her outfit choice. A+.

At the National Board of Review Awards the divine Emma Stone wore a J. Mendel off white dress with crystal Christian Louboutin heels. The cut of this dress is perfection and the intricacy of the overlapping layers that are intertwined to make up the top part. I adore this length because it’s still youthful however it eliminates the worry that comes hand in hand with mini dresses at public events. The red lips, ginger hair, green eyes, and off white dress is a colour combination worth noting.

Angelia Jolie and Brad Pitt are captured here at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards Gala, where Brad won the Best Actor Award. Here Angelina is wearing a Salvatore Ferragamo white blouse and leather pencil skirt with lady like pointed heels that are very current. Her emerald green necklace and matching earrings are the perfect pop of colour to make this monochrome ensemble a little different. The colour also brings out her eyes and is the perfect colour choice for her colouring. The difference with how Angelina dresses in comparison to some of her Hollywood colleagues is that she doesn’t avidly follow trends but she sticks to classic shapes that are timeless and feminine. Brad looks smart in a well cut suit… and a cane, as you do.

The couple were photographed in December last year at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards. A contemporary classic vision, Angelina wears a lavender jumpsuit from Elie Saab’s S/S 2011 collection. The halter-neck allows a revelation of just the right amount of skin that keeps this look on the right side of sexy. Well, when is Angelina not on the right side of sexy? Oh and hello again Brad’s cane.
