Glossy Klossy

Karlie Kloss shines like a devilish mermaid in this editorial shoot for magazine Numero #129 captured Greg Kadel. There is a dirty, otherworldly, under sea feel to this high fashion collection of images. The deep blues, rusty oranges and gritty props evoke a mermaid-gone-wild experience. Styled by Elizabeth Sulcer, Karlie wears an array of shocking hues and powerful silhouettes.
The story told here is magical, yes, but look closer and depicted are some looks worth noting for all of our wardrobes. A prominent mixture of textures is present in every shot. From sequins, to leather, to fur, to denim, chaining and more the contrasts are complimentary yet forceful. The peplum has been coveted by an array of designers and is still going strong - it is a shape definitely worth trying.
Without losing the rock’n’roll cool, Karlie wears figure hugging dresses and shows us just how to do sexy. The length is to the knee (or just above) and accessories are bold. Not in all of the looks, but the majority have kept one colour per outfit. See an all red, all gold, all black and all blue look. The simplicity evokes power and with that dramatic a textural design it is necessary to be outrageous in only one way hence keeping with one hue.
The looks are easily and readily interpretable into wearable ensembles by taking three key themes from this editorial. 1) Mix textures, 2) Go big or go home, 3) Accessorise with Attitude.
Above and beyond the literal fashion is the art value presented to us here. Karlie Kloss has been dominating both our magazines and runways as a model and as herself. Her success is well deserved and with the exquisite vision of the photographer and stylist we get the delight of ogling their divinity.
We aren’t all lucky enough to wear Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy but we sure can emulate their looks.
