Purple Rain

BAM! Winter’s here. Were you ready? Probably not. Neither was I, but whether we like it or not it is officially cold, wet and thoroughly British. It is also Sunday, the day of rest, and I reckon we all need a nice bit of escapism and some comforting through these difficult and windy times. So feast your eyes on this colourful editorial that somehow with the magic of good photography and excellent photo shop has managed to make rain look… desirable.

The Stylist Magazine embraced the on trend colour (also reported by HanJanRan), Purple, in an array of shades and depths for this editorial. Photographer John-Paul Pietrus achieves a flirtatious edge to some seriously sharp styling. This editorial debuts many of the prominent trends for autumn winter in a gloriously wearable fashion. The lavender hair gives the high fashion look an urban edge. The seventh image is an excellent presentation of the new skirt length while also proving how layering can be chic rather than OTT. Drop your hemlines ladies. This skirt is longer, fuller and here to stay. Other noteworthy attributes to remember are texture, belts and suits. Check out how thick and glossy the Harmony leggings are in image six, which when teamed with the Christopher Kane dress and wide leather belt makes for a diverse and contrasting juxtaposition of textures. Admittedly some of the looks are quite severe but the feminine touches come in the silhouettes so ensure your belt is boss. Finally I really can’t recommend a print suit enough. Prada’s deco geometric suit is a sophisticated show stopper although it could be a bit much for some. There are different takes on this look however so find one that suits your personality and invest. For evening events the suit as a whole has fashion kudos and power but wear the trousers and blazer separately for a range of occasions. Throw the jacket on over a dress or wear a neutral knit with your trousers for day time.
Although the coloured backgrounds add artistic merit to the overall composition of the images but they are hues to remember for your wardrobe too. Be brave and wear chunky accessories that stand out and take your look to the next level. Layer up in a bid to keep stylish not just warm. And don’t save that knockout dress for best. Wear it now!

Staring at this divine editorial with its bewitching colours has thawed me out and cheered me up. Tomorrow I will enjoy the rain and get my hair wet and bad ass like this model’s just to really embrace the styling. Too far?
