Mother of Pearl, Polly Morgan & Sunday Times Style Pop-up Shop at Bluebird

As London Fashion Week kicks off, there are a plethora of events to mark the occasion. One of those parties was at The Shop at Bluebird. A pop-up shop was erected with Mother of Pearl and Polly Morgan's collection hosted by the Sunday Times Style.

Polly Morgan (L), Maia Norman (C) and Lara Bohnik (R)

Some of my favourite looks from the collection.
Creative Director Maia Norman is enthusiastic about fashion and art. Each season she collaborates through Mother of Pearl with a credited artist. The artist's work is then featured as part of the inspiration and the prints used for that collection. This collection is with taxidermy queen Polly Morgan. The animal reference is thematically present in the collection. Bee prints, animal skins and even attached feathers show how Morgan's inspiration was interpreted. The overall look is wearable but fresh, bold and current with a sportswear aesthetic. There are pieces to suit different personalities but everyone will want something. Using delicious fabrics and materials, these art inspired pieces are a great purchase for those who love fashion and art. In my book the two are always infused and if you appreciate one, you appreciate the other.

Polly Morgan uses taxidermy to make her art. This is Small Still Birth and can be yours for £1000. On the right it was proudly displayed at the Pop-up shop.

Here is my favourite sweatshirt (available at Selfridges, among other stockists). The lovely Poppy Jamie was there too to have a cocktail with. Poppy loved the bee print the best (as seen on Polly Morgan and Lara Bohnik above).

This fashionista got absolutely legless!

The event itself was relaxed yet busy with the buzz of those excited for the busy weekend to come. Pam Hogg hit the decks while the rest of us checked out the collection and drank Moscow Mules. We ogled the clothes and art, discussed our commitments for the rest of London Fashion Week, and eventually everyone filtered out into the night.
